Meet the Instructor

Hi! I am Rebecca Croft, creator of Meals in Minutes, LLC which is currently offering a variety of cooking classes and workshops in the Louisville and Southern Indiana areas.

I began my experience back in 1979 as a microwave cooking instructor for Sharp Electronic Corporation. Several of the photos in this web site represent foods that I taught people to prepare in Sharp microwave ovens. For over 12 years, I was part of a national program responsible for educating thousands of people on how to master the art of microwave cooking. In addition to teaching classes locally for Sharp, I actively sold appliances and often traveled across the state of Kentucky to many of our dealer locations to conduct their classes and workshops. Training demonstrators to work in our dealer stores was also a regular and fun experience.

Over the years, I have taught numerous microwave cooking classes at several colleges through their Adult Education programs, and held many specialty classes for women's and civic groups, as well as church groups in the local area. Specialty classes on health & wellness and specific dietary needs were also on the agenda regularly.


History of the Vanishing Microwave Cooking Classes

About 25 years ago, microwave ovens were VERY new and intimidating to consumers. Microwaves needed a little help being accepted into households across America. The average consumer was invited to a 2 or 3 hour class to learn how to get the most from their new investment. After attending a class, all fears and doubts went out the window. The tremendous benefits were realized instantly, and people were amazed! These classes were offered for many years until enough consumers had purchased enough microwaves across the country.

Nowhere in this city can you find a place to learn to use your microwave to it's fullest potential like back in the 70's and 80's. A cooking class exclusively designed for the microwave is unheard of... until now.

Nothing pleases me more than to have the opportunity to educate a whole new generation of microwave owners on how to actually "cook" meals in their microwave! The possibilities are endless if you take the time to learn some new skills and techniques. It can be your "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow if you take the time to learn. Using your oven as a "slow cooker" as well as learning to "simmer" a pot of chili or spaghetti sauce on the lower power levels are things you'll learn. A roast slow cooked for 3 hours? Yes! Right in the microwave. What an energy saver!

In this class, you will observe step by step how to prepare these dishes properly and learn many valuable skills to take home with you! We also send you home with recipes for everything on the menu and many more as well. It's also a lot of fun tasting everything we prepare after class!
